| A message from the Chairman | |
| Hello. I have recently been
appointed Chairman of the Broadleas Trust. I joined the Boys' Brigade in 1960 and have been a member of the 1st Exeter Company for over 40 years. I live in Royston, Hertfordshire, with my wife Tracey and two daughters Gemma (12) and Lucy (10). My first visit to this camp site was in 1960 and I still visit the centre many times each year. I fell in love with it on my first visit and still feel the same way about it now, it is a place where I am at peace with the world. Over these years we have all seen gradual changes to the site and to the amenities we have there. All these improvements are down to the many people who have dedicated their time as trustees, wardens and supporters of numerous fund-raising activities to keep their centre alive. The recent improvements to the centre include resurfacing the driveway and car park, a new toilet block on the campsite and a complete refit of the kitchen and 2 new showers in the indoor accommodation. To compliment the activities we already have to offer, a slide (zip) wire has been installed in memory of Terry Hardy, to which a climbing activity frame has recently been added. With a site of this nature and size, there are always plenty of jobs that require many hours of work, so we will be having 2 working days during the year (dates will be confirmed on the website), so if you can spare a few hours of your time on these dates, you help will be greatly appreciated. To those companies who have not used the centre for many years, please give us a try - I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at what is on offer and the great value you get for your money. For those of you who use it regularly, many thanks for your support and tell as many people and organisations as you can what a great site it is. Dave Aggett |
